Not just a movies

Hi

Today I want to say more about Star Wars, what is exactly mean.
The story begins in 1976 from the book “Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker”, Ghostwritten by Alan Dean Foster, but credited to George Lucas. Film adaptation of this book is Episode IV A New Hope, and that was the first movie which was published.
The most important part of Star Wars of course are movies:

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

But the movies are not everything, we have novels, cartoons, comic books, role - playing games and computer games. All this stuff makes something called Expanded Universe. During the years Expanded Universe was bigger and bigger, until 2014. In that year George Lucas, producing and creator Star Wars sold them to Disney.

New owner declared in April 2014 the Expanded Universe are non-canon. From now old canon are called Legends and Disney start making they own canon.
In short version:
·        All material about Star Wars published before 2014 are Legend now.
·        All published after 2014 are canon
·        The 6 first movies belongs to the both, Legends and canon

If you want to find any stuff from Legends or canon here, you have the links:

In Legends you have:
Adults novel: 160
Young adult novel: 152

In Canon You have

Young adult novel: 120

Did you know Star Wars had own calendar?
The Galactic Standard Calendar was the standard measurement of time in the galaxy. It was based on the Coruscant solar cycle. The Coruscant solar cycle was 368 days long with a day consisting of 24 standard hours. Numerous epochs were used to determine calendar eras. The most recent of these calendar eras used the Battle of Yavin as its epoch, or "year zero."
BBY stands for Before the Battle of Yavin.
ABY stands for After the Battle of Yavin.

Now You know something more about Star Wars, for example: calendar or differents between Legends or canon.
